This 43rd Super Bowl, Hyundai plans to go all out with its Genesis Coupe commercial. The Korean automaker will launch the Hyundai ad for 2009 during the Super Bowl in a sideways, two-part “Epic Lap” advertisement. To accomplish the shoot the automaker has got hot-shoe, truck almost flipping, former rallyist Rhys Millen on board to flog the RWD coupe around Road Atlanta’s 2.54-mile, 12-turn circuit.

Rhys Millen while speaking to media persons said, “We’re taking this car in a controlled environment to the max, hitting speeds of a 125 mph, braking deep, firing in, popping over the rumble strips, it’s awesome, a great feeling.” Link

Adding a dramatic effect to one of the One of the “Epic” commercials to achieve a dramatic feat will be a solo of Bach’s “Cello Suite #3 in C, Gigue” by Grammy-winning cellist Yo-Yo Ma. It has been superiorly choreographed to Millen’s controlled mayhem behind the wheel. Hyundai is strategizing a web effort where surfers will be able to edit together snippets from the shoot and create an “Epic Lap” of their own.

The final commercial wont be released before February 1, I have tried hard to lay my hands on it, but in vain. However, behind the scenes are released, and believe me its no bad. Its definitely worth a look and surely you will get to see more than the comely yellow Hyundai. Watch closely and you will discover a pair of killer blacked-out camera cars: A Porsche Cayenne and a Mitsubishi Evo. at Wiki

Audi to throw one-60 second spot during the game’s first quarter. If you remember, Audi’s 2008 Super Bowl ad that has featured its R8 sports car in a spoof of “The Godfather,” has garnered lot of attention and publicity and placed it at No. 2 position as far as evaluated post ad buzz is concerned. The commercial also brought unprecedented traffic for its corporate website.

In the Audi commercial Actor Jason Statham, who is better known for his action-packed roles in “Transporter” series, “Snatch” and “The Bank Job,” ran from decade to decade to avoid capture. It’s all about creating hype. Here, it’s about creating hype for an already super hyped event called Super Bowl.

Pepsico has joined hands with US film studio DreamWorks to make available 125 million pairs of Intel 3D glasses in the US of A.

Intel plans to distribute 125 million pairs of 3D specs available for Super Bowl TV spectatorsWhat it means for viewers, they will be able to view the special 60 second 3D trailer of the latest DreamWorks flick “Monsters vs Aliens” and PepsiCo’s SoBe Lifewater which will be aired during Super Bowl.

Pepsi will freely distribute 125 million 3D glasses through its instore displays spread 25,000 locations across US of A. The 3D glasses are made of new technological stuff and not the traditional red and blue glasses. Viewers without the glasses will also be able to view the ad.

Seems like a win win situation for both the parties here. Viewers with or without the glasses will be aware of both the products (thanks to unprecedented mouth publicity and media jagegrment) so recall value for both the movie “Monsters vs Aliens” and PepsiCo as brand will be astronomically high.

On the other hand, since the ad is hyped (and also positioned strongly against competitors) it will get maximum willing and eager eyeballs across US.

Don’t throw away the 3D glasses after the game is over. You will still need it for a special 3D episode of NBC’s hit comedy “Chuck,” airing Monday, February 2, 2009 (8-9pm ET.)
