GE-ad-commercial-birds-nest-OlympicsThis GE commercial where Anderson Davis features as an ancient Greek discuss thrower is nice to see but then you realize that Olympics 2008 is happening in Beijing, China and not mandatorily in Greece. Is it always compulsory to showcase Greek as Olymplic background?

Anyway, the ad is cool. Anderson throws the discus and it due to a spin in the air it ruins an ancient (Greek!!) building.

The commercial is showcasing GE’s wind power management capability. GE is also one of the official sponsors of the game.

Nike is unveiling the “A Dream Deferred” television commercial on August 15. The Dream Deferred ad is special because the commercial is an inspirationally charged one which gives viewers a glimpse into Sanya Richards’ life over the past two years. Sanya Richards, after battling a rare ailment that threatened her track career, she persevered to return to action stronger than ever before. The ad shows Richards training and getting ready to return to competition in the 400 meter run.

The 60-second and 30-second ads were developed with Wieden+Kennedy Portland.
Earlier this month Nike kicked off its global advertising campaign for Beijing with a television commercial entitled “Courage.” The ad celebrates one of the most inspirational brand statements of all time, ‘Just Do It,’ by capturing the very essence of an athlete’s motivation. Last week Nike began airing “United We Rise,” an ad featuring the USA Basketball Team that is set to the score of Marvin Gaye’s legendary rendition of “The Star Spangled Banner.”

In a true celebration of the continuing spirit of competition while overcoming adversity, Nike is debuting two inspirational commercials (exclusively for Beijing Olympics 2008) which would feature world-class track star Sanya Richards and the USA Softball Team.

This is a special year for USA Softball Team members as the Beijing Olympic Games enters into its final year of Olympic competition. In “We Have Softball,” advertisement Nike is highlighting the US team’s passion and commitment to continuing to play the game regardless of the circumstances.

Marvin-Dream-Team-USA-Star-Spangled-Banner- Nike A New Team commercial exclusively created for Beijing Olympics 2008 has so wonderfully used Marvin Gaye’s 1983’s national anthem rendition that I got really moved. This anthem Marvin performed way back at 1983 NBA All Star Game in Los Angeles. Now Nike advertising think tank has decided to use the number for New Team USA advertisement.

As the new Team USA looks forward to claiming victory in Beijing, Coach K looks back twenty-five years for new inspiration from our national anthem.

The Star Spangled Banner is played before every game to inspire the players and the fans to greatness. Coach K took a moment out of practice to share a version of the song with his players that, in its own right, made sports history.
And like Marvin and the Dream Team before them, this year’s Team USA intends to put on a show that will forever go down as one the greatest performances in the history of the sport.

To show support for the men that will represent us in Beijing, Nike Basketball brings Marvin, LeBron, Kobe, J-Kidd and the rest of the team together to pay homage to basketball, America’s game.

Nice ad. We have seen some scenes of this Home Depot commercial in other versions as well. But AG Kruger features first time in this ad, if I have not missed him in earlier adverts.

This Home Depot Olympics 2008 advertisement is no less than a multi satrrer Hollywood potboiler. The exclusively made for Beijing commercial is featuring Hanna Thompson, Jake Arnold, Mary Wineberg, Jill Camarena, Josh Mcadams, Jeff Smoke and Jeff Skiba. The ad is cool in nature, people are doing their job in what they are best in, no artificial arch lights, no poppadum.

You can do it, we can help. Home Depot It’s Time commercial exclusively made for Beijing Olympics 2008, if not extraordinary and bigger than life, is modest and overwhelming at its best. This slice of life kind of Home Depot television ad is announcing first outdoor collection Thomasville furniture.

Nothing extraordinary but surely will help will remember the fact that Home Depot has tied up with Thomasville. Why should they spend a fortune otherwise.

Jackie Chan featuring in Visa commercial is funny no doubt. In this Beijing Olympics 2008 ad Jackie Chan plays for the stuff he is always famous for. He makes a mess out of everything, be it ping pong (table tennis…haha Chinese style), basketball, soccer, you name it, little Jackie screws up everything. He may jump from a fifth floor after smashing the glass window but will always land on something soft.

2008 China Olympics Visa Credit Card Commercial completely goes by Jackie characteristics, you will love it, irrespective of whether you are his fan or not.

This time lil Jackie got excited after seeing a big Yao Ming Olympic advertisement. And the rest is….well….incredible.

Independent Wieden + Kennedy launches an ambitious multi-spot campaign for Nike during tonight’s Olympics opening ceremony.

Nike has unveiled its much-anticipated “We Have Softball” commercial on 2008 Olympics opening ceremony and wins millions of hearts at one go. The soft ball ad has amazingly melodious Donna Fargo’s ’70s country hit “Happiest Girl in the Whole USA” and a montage of girls on a sandlot and adult Olympic athletes playing softball.

At the end of the ad a defiant title card reads: “We have softball…You can have everything else,” and the TV advertisement ends with Just Do It logo.

In “A Dream Deferred,” actor Danny Glover recites the stirring Langston Hughes poem and runner Sanya Richards is shown with her family, fans and coach Clyde Hart. The spot ends with Richards, who battled back from a rare disease to compete in the games this year, tearing down the track as Glover speaks the poem’s final “explosive” line.

“A New Team” features a performance of “The Star-Spangled Banner” by Marvin Gaye from the NBA Playoffs in 1983. His passionate effort provides the soundtrack for footage of current U.S. team members and nostalgic shots of stars such as Michael Jordan in their Olympics “Dream Team” years. The spot ends with players arms raised in unity.

Versions of the spots range from 30-seconds to 2 minutes-plus.

Shannon Worley served as producer. Creative directors Jelly Helm, Jeff Williams, and Steve Luker led the creative team at Wieden in Portland, Ore., that included Shannon McGlothin (art) and Nathan Goldberg (copy). Epoch Films’ Stacy Wall directed.

Beaverton, Ore.-based Nike spent $190 million advertising in 2007, $75 million through April 2008, per Nielsen Monitor-Plus.
