Publicity is part of PR campaign. At its core, publicity is the act of suggesting the news in question to the beat journalists/broadcasters so that it gets included into the respective editorial. Coverage is the buzzword here, more the coverage, better it is for the publicist and its client. From a marketing perspective, it is one component of promotion. A good publicist creates new opportunities through event, survey, exhibition, debate, research report, taking a stand on a contemporary topic etc. to showcase its product or service on behalf of the client. Publicity is a low cost and high-credible promotion tool.
